Describe Fractions and Place Fractions on a Number Line - Grade 3

Mathematical Goals

This toolkit will address developing and understanding fractions. This lesson will help you assess how well students understand the concepts of (3.NF.A.1 and 3.NF.A.2):

Fractions: develop an understanding of fractions as numbers.
Describe a fraction (1/b) as the quantity formed by 1 part when a whole is partitioned into b equal parts; understand a fraction (a/b) as the quantity formed by a parts of size (1/b).
Describe a fraction as a number on the number line.
Represent fractions on a number line diagram.
