University of Colorado Denver

Masters of Arts in Teaching + Licensure

The MAT program is a 12-15 month residency program that enables students to “live the life of a teacher." The first semester provides foundational courses that build students’ capacity to work with diverse students in urban schools.  After, students complete two semesters in an extended internships where they co-teach alongside master mentor teachers in one of CU Denver’s professional development schools.  The extended internships allow for students to apply what they are learning in courses to classroom teaching.  Candidates progress as a cohort with their peers and are supported by a deep network of university faculty and school-based teacher leaders throughout the program. Information about the MAT with license can be found at https://education.ucdenver.edu/academics/graduate/teaching.
