Word Bank

  • Addend: A number that is added to another number to get a sum. In the equation, 2+3=5, 2 and 3 are the addends.
  • Difference: The result of subtracting one number from another. In the equation 5-3=2, 2 is the difference.
  • Dividend: A number that is divided by another number. In the equation 6/3=2, 6 is the dividend. Divisor: A number that divides another number into equal parts. In the equation 6/3=2, 3 is the divisor.
  • Factor: An amount that is multiplied. In the equation 2x3=6, 2 and 3 are factors.
  • Minuend: An amount that is subtracted from. In the equation 5-3=2, 5 is the minuend.
  • Operation: An action in math that is performed on numbers, like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Perimeter: The length around a two-dimensional figure.
  • Product: The result when numbers are multiplied. In the equation 2x3=6, 6 is the product.
  • Quotient: The result of dividing one number by another number In the equation 6/3=2, 2 is the quotient.
  • Remainder: An amount left over after dividing if the divisor cannot divide the dividend evenly.
