These are also great ideas for students who can do the math work above but struggle with explaining it.
Lastly, it is effective to have students solidify their understanding by doing hands-on and real-world applications.

- Find out how far your family car can go on a gas tank and figure out the miles per gallon.
- Save your money! How much will you need to reach a goal and set up a savings plan to keep adding to until you reach it? How much total, how much per week, how many times do you need to work, and how much will you make…?
- Organize parties and events. Figure out how much time, money, how many people, what events, and how to fit them all in and provide what everyone needs at the party
- Draft some ideas/word problems to share with a facilitator or your group of math students to challenge their thinking and learning! Demonstrate to them how you might solve your word problems.
