CodeSnaps
CodeSnaps is a collaborative robotics coding environment with a mission to provide computer science education for all. CodeSnaps is intentionally designed to reduce common barriers to computer science education including access to high-speed broadband, access to technology, technical knowledge, and collaboration. CodeSnaps activities engage spatial reasoning skills as students solve robotics challenges in real, 3D space. The app takes advantage of tangible, printed coding blocks allowing students to create programs collaboratively on their desks without a device; thus, requiring only one iPad and one robot per classroom. CodeSnaps blocks are available in multiple languages including English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, and Mandarin (simplified). When blocks are scanned with the CodeSnaps app, the program is then executed on the connected robot. The entire process is accomplished solely through Bluetooth eliminating the need for Wi-Fi. With several standards-aligned lessons available through the app, CodeSnaps is easily integrated across the curriculum adding unique opportunities for students to demonstrate mastery of core content through coding. The CodeSnaps app, corresponding CodeSnaps blocks, and the supplemental lessons are all available at absolutely no cost from Curriculum Pathways.
