Word Bank
Cardinality
The quantity or number of things in a set or group is named with a number symbol. The last number counted is the total in the set. (example: two items are represented with a 2).
Quantity
The amount in a group or set.
Ten Frame
A visual representation or picture to show numbers 0-10 in a rectangular frame with two rows of 5. Here is a video explaining how to use a ten-frame.
Counting on
A mathematical concept where a student starts with a given number and continues counting by adding successive numbers. (example: start with 5, then continue with two more saying “five, six, seven.”)
One-to-one correspondence
Indicates a student counting each object in a group in ascending order (e.g., 1, 2, 3) while touching or transferring each object.
