Colorado Universal Preschool Update
Accountability, Performance & Support
- New resources about the 2023 accountability system have been posted to the website and additional resources are being developed. To access the latest resources as updates are made, view the State Accountability webpage.
- If CDE reviewed a school or district UIP in 2021-22, feedback is available in the UIP feedback tab in the UIP online system or on the UIP Feedback for District Users Dashboard. Visit the UIP website for additional information
Assessment
- Beginning in May, districts can review the Student Biographical Data collections to verify the accuracy of state content assessment data and check for common errors that impact district and school accountability. Educator Talent
- Teacher Appreciation Week is May 8-12. A toolkit is available for districts to use to communicate with schools and parents. For questions, contact the CDE Communications Office at cde_communications_office@cde.state.co.us.
- 2021-22 Educator Effectiveness metrics for teachers and principals will be available Tuesday, May 23, in the new EducatorView platform. Visit the Educator Effectiveness Metrics webpage for information on accessing and interpreting the metrics. - Applications for the 2023-23 Principal Leadership Institute are due Thursday, June 15.
Federal Programs & Support
ESSA
- Local education agencies applying for Elementary and Secondary Education Act funds through the Consolidated Application must submit the Equitable Services to Non-public Consultation form and the School Improvement Retention of Funds form into the 2023-24 Consolidated Application by Wednesday, May 31. Contact Laura Meushaw at meushaw_l@cde.state.co.us with questions.
- The Stronger Connections Grant application and resources are available on the Stronger Connections Grant webpage. LEAs interested in applying for this funding opportunity may submit the optional Intent to Apply by Wednesday, May 24. Applications must be submitted online by Wednesday, June 7. Questions can be emailed to Stronger_Connections@cde.state.co.us.
- The Federal Programs and Supports Unit is hosting Spring Regional Network Meetings to provide individualized support in completing the 2023-24 Consolidated Application for ESEA Funds. Visit the Regional Networking Meetings Webpage to register for a meeting.
ESSER
- ESSER II application finalization and Post-Award Revisions are due by Friday, June 30, and funds must be obligated and spent by Sept. 30. Noo extensions are possible.
- The deadline to submit ESSER II Request for Funds is Nov. 1. Contact your ESSER Lead Reviewer with any questions.
District Operations
Data Pipeline
- All School Code Change Requests must be made by Friday, June 30, to be considered for the 2023-24 school year. School Code Request changes include requests for a new school code, closing or merging schools, school grade range change, school name change, re-opening a school and district/LEA changes.
- The Special Education Discipline Snapshot is open and the deadline is Aug. 17.
- The School Discipline periodic collection is open and the deadline is Aug. 18.
- The Attendance Snapshot is open and the deadline is Aug. 24.
- The Teacher Student Data Link interchange file and snapshot are open and the deadline is Aug. 25.
- The Designated Agency data collection is open in the Data Pipeline for alternative licensure educator preparation programs to enter 2022-23 candidates until Aug 31.
- The End of Year snapshot opens on Thursday, May 4.
- The Special Education end of year snapshot is open.
- The Staff Evaluation Interchange is open and the final Staff Evaluation Snapshot deadline is October 13.
Nutrition & Health
Nutrition
- Beginning in the 2023-24 school year, the Healthy School Meals for All program will offer free meals to all students at districts choosing to participate. Details on the process for opting into the program will be available soon. More information about Healthy School Meals for All is available on the Healthy School Meals for All webpage.
Schools of Choice
- The Schools of Choice Unit seeks assistance building a list of neutral third-party arbitrators who can assist with mediation and resolution when an innovation zone with alternative governance, a school within an innovation zone or a district are looking to resolve disagreements regarding the administration of an innovation plan. Forward this form to any arbitrators interested in being added to the list. Email Janyse Skalla at skalla_j@cde.state.co.us with questions.
Teaching and Learning
- A list of kindergarten school readiness assessments will be presented to the State Board of Education for approval during the May 2023 board meeting. For more information, visit the Kindergarten School Readiness webpage.

- Registration is open for the 2023 Teaching and Learning CoLabs.
READ Act
- The 2022-23 READ Spring Assessment Reporting window in Data Pipeline will close Thursday, June 15. Local education providers are required to report spring READ Act interim assessment scores for all K-3 students enrolled in the district.
- The 2023-24 Literacy Programs & Assessment Reporting is open in the Data Pipeline through Friday, June 30. LEPs are required to report the READ Act administered interim and diagnostic assessments along with the core, supplemental and intervention programming for each school in the district for grades K-3.

- The 2022-23 READ Budget Revision window is open until Friday, June 30. LEPs are required to revise 2022-23 READ budgets to reflect actual READ Act allocation amounts.
- The deadline for 2023-24 READ Budget submission and approval is Friday, June 30. LEPs must submit a budget of how they plan to use READ funds prior to receiving funds for the 2023-24 school year.
