Impact of Federal Delays by District – Heat Map

Estimated 2025-2026 School Year Funding Reductions

On June 30, 2025, the U.S. Department of Education announced that several key federal education programs are under administrative review, delaying the release of funds for the 2025-2026 school year.

Based on FY25 allocations, Colorado stands to lose nearly $80 million in federal education funding across various programs:

  • Title 1-C: Supplemental support to eligible migrant children and youth.
  • Title II-A: Resources to increase student academic achievement by improving the quality and effectiveness of teachers and principals.
  • Title III-A: Fund for improving and enhancing the education of English learners (ELs) in becoming proficient in English.
  • Title IV-A: A flexible block grant that allows LEAs to tailor their spending to address school-specific needs, focusing on three key areas to enhance the overall educational experience for all students (Key areas include providing all students a well-rounded education, improving school conditions for learning, and technology/digital literacy).
  • Title IV-B: Out-of-school time academic enrichment programs primarily for students in high-poverty areas
  • CDC Grant for Improving Student Health and Academic Achievement: Funding for promoting the well-being of students by supporting healthy eating, physical activity, and the management of chronic conditions in schools.
  • Adult Education and Family Literacy: Resources to equip adults with the foundational skills and knowledge necessary for economic self-sufficiency.

The map below illustrates the estimated impact of these funds by school district. You can also view a detailed table comparing current and prior year allocations here.

We will continue to update this map and accompanying materials as more information becomes available.
