Charter School Technical Assistance Events

Thank you for visiting our events page. We are pleased that you have an interest in the events that the Schools of Choice unit are offering this year! The Schools of Choice unit provides a variety of quality technical assistance and professional development opportunities to all charter schools in the state of Colorado. These events are meant to provide best practices for charter school operations, analyze charter school trends, and identify areas of growth and provide solutions to charter school practitioners.  Receive optimal support, as it is our goal to help create successful and sustainable charter schools. We hope to see you at one of our events!

*Please note CCSP Grant recipients must participate in technical assistance events offered by the Schools of Choice Division as a prerequisite for grant funding.*

Many organizations have supporting webinars and resources for the charter community. The Schools of Choice Unit acknowledges that there is a need for charter specific guidance and therefore, we have compiled events below from various organizations that have offered support. October Events

Charter Board Fundamentals  

Date: Friday, October 30th
Time: 9:30am - 12:30pm
Details: The Board Fundamentals training is provided in the fall and spring of each year for the purpose of offering CO charter schools the opportunity to ensure every board member has the requisite skills and understanding of their vital role within the school. Please join us for an information-filled time of learning. Whether you are the newest member of your school’s board or a long-standing veteran, there will be something of value for everyone.
 

November Events

Administrator Mentoring Cohort (AMC)  

Date: Wednesday, November 4th 
Time: 9:00am - 2:30pm
Details: The Administrator Mentoring Cohort (AMC) is designed to build leadership capacity among new charter school administrators and those aspiring to be charter school administrators. Building administrators’ skills and capacity positively affects teachers, school culture, school operations, and ultimately student achievement. This program also helps ease feelings of isolation among new leaders by providing a peer network, while enabling mature leaders to develop their mentoring skills. We welcome all of Colorado’s charter school leaders!
 

Topic Based Webinar: Mental Health Awareness in the Midst of a Pandemic 

Date: Wednesday, November 10th 
Time: 11:00am - 12:30pm
Details: Join us for our Topic Based Webinar for the 2020-2021 school year November 10th 2020 from 11:00am-12:30pm. Topic-based webinars allow the Schools of Choice Unit to provide targeted support on a topic of relevance to a board variety of stakeholders using a technological platform accessible to all. 
 

Statewide Business Manager Network Meeting (BMN) 

Date: Thursday, November 12th 
Time: 9:30am - 11:30am
Details: For the second school year in a row, Business Manager Meetings hosted by the Schools of Choice Unit at the Colorado Department of Education in conjunction with the Colorado League of Charter Schools! Together we hope to continue to provide valuable networking opportunities and technical support to charter school business managers across Colorado.Business Manager Meetings are now a quarterly statewide event where all regions are encouraged to attend. As for now, these meetings will be held virtually via Zoom Meetings from 9:30 am-11:30 am. Zoom Details are to be sent to attendees the day before the scheduled Business Manager Meeting.
 

December Events

CCSP Sub-Grantee Conference Call 

Date: Thursday, December 10th 
Time: 10:00am - 11:00am
Details: This almost quarterly convening is offered as a convenient opportunity to check-in with the CCSP grant team and fellow grant recipient peers. The hour is dedicated towards having an interactive discussion of current events & issues, answering questions raised by the group, and receiving guidance and reminders on various grant management practices from representatives from the CDE Schools of Choice and Grants Fiscal Management Units. Calls will be held virtually and possibly recorded; sending discussion topics and questions in advance is most welcome.
 

Equity Convening: Open to All - Leadership in Special Education  

Date: Friday, December 11th 
Time: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Details:  Sponsored by the Colorado Department of Education and hosted by UCD's School of Public Affairs' Center for Education Policy Analysis. In this Convening, we will discuss charter school leadership strategies designed to shift school culture and secure equity and access for Special Education students.
