AP/IB Exam Fee Program

UPDATE:

Senate Bill 25-220 has repealed the Accelerated College Opportunity Exam Fee Program  effective July 1, 2025. Please review the guidance below to support the closeout of the grant program, if required. The PWR of the AP/IB Exam Fee Program

Colorado's AP/IB Exam Fee Program is pursuant to HB19-1222 to increase the number of students who take Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) exams. It provides funding to high schools to cover some or all of the exam fees for eligible students*.

*"Eligible student” means a student enrolled in a high school who is a low-income individual, as defined in 20 U.S.C. sec. 9832(3) and who is planning to take one or more advanced placement exams."

 

AP/IB Exam Fee Program Application Submission Process and Deadline

Please read the application carefully and submit all information required.

  • Applications are due by January 27, 2025 at 11:59PM.
    • Due to the competitive nature of this grant,  Incomplete or late applications will be disqualified.
  • You will need to verify amounts by May 27, 2025. Verification Form will be available in May 2025. 
    • If you do not verify the amount by the deadline of May 27, 2025, you may not be eligible for funding. 

2023-24 Funding and Participation

  • For the 2023-24 school year, 32 districts and 40 schools participated in the Accelerated College Opportunity Exam Fee Program.

  • For the 2023-24 school year, eligible students* took 15,961 AP exams and 1,717 IB exams. A  total of  $500,632.78  was awarded for the 2023-24 AP/IB program.
