Step 2: Review Current Student Performance
Review current student performance in early elementary.
- Review the data collected for patterns across different data sources and trends occurring over multiple years. For the first few years completing an ELNA, trend data may not be available; however, identifying patterns in data from different data sources may inform priorities.
- If using the ELNA data analysis template, review the summary sheet and create additional tables as needed to support analysis.
Questions to support discussion on early elementary achievement data
- Looking across student outcome data, how many students are below benchmarks and may require additional tier 2 or tier 3 support? How many students remain below benchmark over time? In which domains or content areas is this occurring?
- For kindergarten students below/at/above benchmark, how does the KSR literacy domain compare with the READ interim assessment?
- Viewing longitudinal progress from kindergarten through 3rd grade, what trends do you see over time?
