Sherri graduated from Cortez high school, received her BA from Ft Lewis and her MA in Secondary Education from Adams State.  She has one son, one daughter, and four grandchildren and two great grandsons.  Her children and two granddaughters graduated from Cortez.

Sherri previously served eight years on the RE-1 school board.  After a four-year break, she was re-elected and term limited off in December 2023.  While serving on the RE-1 school board, she served as a director for the Colorado Association of School Boards representing the District 12 boards.  She also served on the San Juan Basin Technical College board, and was president of that board for five years.

Sherri is a retired teacher of 20 years.  She taught 7th grade language arts in Cortez and 6th grade language arts in San Antonio, Texas.  While teaching, she was the department head of the junior high and team leader of the middle school.
