About Us

A branch of CDE, the Division of Capital Construction has developed a series of programs and resources for capital construction funding as well as technical assistance for school districts, traditional public schools, charter schools, BOCES, and the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind.

The FY2022-2023 BEST Grant Round is now open through February 4, 2022

Please Note: The deadline to submit a notification of intent to apply for FY22-23 BEST grants has passed. If you were not able to complete the form by that date, please email your regional program manager or to request information on how to apply this grant round.

Air Quality Improvement Grants

New! Now accepting applications for the second round of funding for the acquisition, repair, maintenance, or upgrading of portable high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) fans or filtration systems for classrooms made on or after April 1, 2021.  Application closes on Monday, January 31st.

Opportunities and Announcements:

  • The annual meeting of the CCAB to review FY21-22 Building Excellent Schools Today grant requests was held May 19-21, 2021. The recommended list of projects will now move on to the State Board of Education and the Capital Development Committee for final approval.

Happy ten-year anniversary to the Building Excellent Schools Today grant program!

Since 2008 BEST has awarded approximately $2.5 billion in grants to more than 525 Colorado schools, improving health, safety and security for nearly 300,000 students.

With funding from The Colorado State Land Board, Colorado Lottery, marijuana excise tax, and local matching dollars, BEST continues to improve Colorado's educational environments through capital construction projects helping schools to realize CDE's vision that "All students graduate ready for college and careers, and are prepared to be productive citizens of Colorado."
