On-Demand format
A Colorado professional learning series based on the book Equipped for Reading Success by Dr. David Kilpatrick and presented by Deb Hoesterey, educational consultant. The modules in this series follow David Kilpatrick's manual and help educators implement the evidence based instructional methods that are most effective for students with reading difficulties.
This course is self paced and can be accessed and completed any time.

Learner Objectives
Upon completion of the modules participants will:
- Understand the importance of the development of word recognition skills in reading comprehension.
- Understand the mental process of orthographic mapping of words
- Be aware of when phonological awareness training should start and why all readers can benefit from this training
- Understand the importance of phoneme proficiency and the necessary skills for its development
- Understand what needs to change about how we teach reading and why
- Know and understand the appropriate sequence of reading approaches
Certificate
Upon completion of each section course participants will be eligible to complete a brief evaluation and knowledge check. When a passing score is achieved an certificate for that course section will be sent to the email address provided in the survey.
