About 200 attendees participated in the Colorado Department of Education's Teaching and Learning CoLab event in Sterling in May.

This collaborative event, designed to enhance teaching and learning practices across the state, gathered elementary and secondary teachers, instructional coaches, curriculum specialists, and building-level administrators. Teams from various schools, comprising teachers from different grades and content areas, shared insights and learned from each other. "All students benefit from teachers who provide them with opportunities to learn and apply new language through collaborative talk structures," said presenter and Multilingual Learners with Educational Disabilities Specialist Hunter Smith.

The conference featured a diverse array of sessions, covering topics such as Digital Treasures: Exploring the Library of Congress, Supporting Oral Language Development using Content Language Objectives, Teaching HB 21-1200 – "How Do You Teach Your Students about Their Next Financial Steps After High School?" and Transforming the Status Quo: Adaptive AI's Uncharted Territories in Public Education.
