Recommend Prep Work:
- To get the most out of School Nurse Orientation, we recommend you spend time reviewing the information on our School Nurse Basics webpage prior to attending.
- Follow each of the “Tips to Help You Get Started”
- You’ll notice Tip # 7 is to view the Medication Administration Training (MAT) course information and to register for the CCHC Center to access training materials. We encourage school nurses to also take this training so you will understand medication administration in schools and be able to guide your staff through the process. The entire course is 4 hours, or school nures can access and review the Facilitator’s Guide once permitted access to the CCHC Center. There is also a facilitator training video in the CCHC Center that school nurses will need to review before providing MAT training to school staff.
- Review the School Health Office Manual and take time to review the content, especially the Colorado Guidance Documents that are listed.
- Review the School Nurse Licensure information and start the application process if you have not already done so.
