About Colorado International Language Academy (3326)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Colorado International Language Academy

2024-2025

Colorado International Language Academy is a language immersion school, serving grades K through 5. We offer immersion in Mandarin Chinese, German, and Spanish. We additionally offer a Homeschool Enrichment program for grades K-6. For the 2023-24 school year, Spanish was the only language offered in this program. CILA?s enrollment for the 2023-24 school year was at 334 students, including 38 students enrolled in our Homeschool Enrichment program. 42% of our student population were eligible for F… ree or Reduced Lunch (FRL). The diversity of our school community has remained relatively stable over the years. For the 2023-24 school year, the ethnic diversity of our student population was as follows: 9% Black or African-American, 33% Hispanic or Latino, 44.6% White, and 12.6% Two or more Races. Exceptional Student Services applied to our student population as follows: 4% of students had an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), 2.1% of students had an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP), and 12.9% were classified as English Language Learners (ELL). The main leadership team at CILA consists of the principal, assistant principal and Director of Finance and HR. Our school staff has remained stable over the last few years, contributing to a positive school climate and culture. Our language immersion program follows a 50/50 model. Students spend 50% of the school day in the language immersion classroom for language literacy, cultural instruction, and math. The other 50% of the day are spent in English Language Arts which include Social Studies and Science. CILA has successfully implemented Engage NY as the English curriculum and Singapore math as the math curriculum. Language immersion follows a vertically aligned unit sequence. To measure and chart student progress, NWEA MAP is administered three times a year, additional curriculum-integrated formative assessments and End of Year assessments supplement this data. Language proficiency is monitored through an annual STAMP assessment in the target language. Reading proficiency is assessed through three DIBELS benchmark assessments each school year and monitored on a monthly basis. CILA is committed to a data-driven approach to improving instruction. Data teams meet on a regular basis to analyze assessment data, identify root causes, formulate learner-centered problems, and develop strategies to address these problems. Insights are included into the UIP and the UIP in turn serves as a guide to focus the data teams? efforts on relevant areas of improvement. Parents are given the opportunity to participate in the school improvement process through the School Accountability Committee which meets quarterly. The school board also plays a role in the development and implementation of the UIP through brainstorming, data analysis, and discussions on improvement strategies.
