About District 6 Online Academy (7491)

A MESSAGE FROM:

District 6 Online Academy

2025-2026

On June 9, 2021, the State Board of Education unanimously approved District 6 Online Academy (D6OA) for accreditation, allowing us to begin operations for the 2021?22 school year. We are proud to enter our fifth year as a K?12 multi-district online school, serving approximately 260 students with a dedicated team of 17 teachers, four office staff members, and two administrators. Guided by the D6 Innovation2030 vision, we developed our mission and vision in close collaboration with district leader… ship and staff. This collaborative approach ensures that our focus areas are aligned with the needs of our students and community. Our commitment to a growth mindset continuously drives us to improve and support student learning through personalized educational experiences. We offer differentiated professional development to enhance teacher effectiveness and ensure our instructional practices meet state standards. As an online school, we embrace innovative and creative methods to engage both parents and students, fostering a collaborative school culture that promotes student success. During the 2022?23 school year, we identified a need to address our 80% attendance rate. In response, we proactively implemented a comprehensive system involving our family advocate, secretary, teachers, and administrators. This initiative was designed to improve attendance and increase student engagement, reflecting our dedication to supporting the holistic development of our students. D6OA?s mission is to engage every student in a personalized learning experience, offering guided choices throughout their educational journey to meet individual learning needs and goals, preparing them for post-secondary education and life. We fulfill this mission through our vision: In partnership with families, D6OA empowers students to successfully navigate the K?12 path and inspires them to pursue their interests and passions, establishing their place in tomorrow?s world. In the 2023?24 school year, we acquired a building that provides additional opportunities to enhance student learning, including in-person instruction when necessary, significantly contributing to student success. Most recently, in the 2024?25 school year, we shifted our focus to working closely with our teachers to deconstruct priority standards, ensuring they deepen their understanding of the skills and knowledge students must demonstrate to show mastery. Update closer to August when enrollment stabilizes. Our school demographics are as follows: 25-26 School Demographics K-12 (***Per Infinite Campus and EduClimber) Elementary Enrollment: 80 Middle School Enrollment: 64 High School Enrollment: 114 Hispanic =64.4% White = 24.7% Black = 3.4% Asian = 0.7% Hawaiian or Pacific Islander = 2.6% American Indian/Alaskan Native = 0.4% Two or more races = 3.7% 504?s = 5 or 1.92% IEPs = 43 or 16.5% ALP?s = 8 or 3.07 English Language Learners (CLD) = 44 or 16.92% Read Act Plans = 40 or 15.3% As an online school, we would like to note that we have a high mobility rate.
