School Context Billie Martinez Elementary is a Title I, STREAM-designated School of Innovation located in northeast Greeley, Colorado. We serve approximately 470 students in grades K?5. Our student population is 88.7% Hispanic/Latino, 6.4% other ethnicities, and 4.8% White. Seventy percent of students are multilingual learners, and 80% qualify for free or reduced lunch. Instructional Focus As a Project Based Learning (PBL) school, all students engage in at least three high-quality projects per y… ear, integrated across math, literacy, and content areas. Since adopting our Innovation Plan in 2017?2018, Billie Martinez has consistently earned a Performance rating on the School Performance Framework, with the exception of 2021?2022 ( Improvement ). We have since returned to Performance in 2022?2023 and maintained it both in 2023?2024 as well as 2024-2025. Strengths and Distinctions Named PBL Champion School in 2019 by PBL Works, recognizing global excellence in project-based learning. Named a Center of Excellence in 2023 by the Colorado Department of Education for showing growth by our students over time. Multicultural staff, including six teachers from the Philippines on J1 visas, three Latina teachers, and at least ten bilingual Spanish speakers. This diversity allows us to better reflect and serve our students and families. Rising or maintaining student attendance (89.9% in 2024-2025, 90.2% in 2023?2024, up from 89.5% in 2022?2023). Areas of Growth While our school has many strengths, we recognize opportunities to improve: Increase student attendance beyond 90.2%. Continue to close achievement gaps for multilingual learners. Sustain Performance ratings with targeted support in literacy and math. Increase academic achievement for all students in literacy and math.
