About Milliken Elementary School (5896)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Milliken Elementary School

2025-2026

Milliken Intermediate School (MIS) is one of four non-charter rural elementary schools in the Weld RE-5J Johnstown-Milliken School District, serving 247 students in grades 3?5. In August 2025, Milliken Elementary School (MES) transitioned from a preK?5 school to serving preK?2 grades, and MES?s 3rd?5th grade students moved to MIS. MIS?s principal previously served as MES?s assistant principal for the past three years alongside the MES principal. MES and MIS are sister schools located in two diff… erent buildings, serving a single community, and share many staff members, including an assistant principal, instructional coach, specials team, and various student support personnel. MIS has a staff of 42 members. MIS serves a diverse student population, with 50.8% of students representing minority groups. As a Title I school, MIS employs one full-time Title I interventionist focused on literacy. The Title I programing provides targeted interventions and valuable data that guide instructional decision-making across grade levels and teams. MIS has experienced growth over the last year, successfully expanding from three to four sections per grade level. MIS offers a robust 21st Century program, including before-school intervention and after-school enrichment. This year, the school?s main priorities are transitioning positively into the renovated building, implementing a co-teaching model in 11 literacy classrooms, continuing work with Impact Teaming protocols, and strengthening school climate and culture through PBIS systems and expanded student leadership opportunities. MIS values strong partnerships with families and the community. Staff actively engage families in the educational process through regular communication, events, and opportunities to participate in school decision-making. Community members, parents, and local organizations collaborate with MIS to support student learning, enrichment programs, and school-wide initiatives, creating a culture of shared responsibility and mutual support for student success.
