About American Legacy Academy (0163)

A MESSAGE FROM:

American Legacy Academy

2025-2026

This Unified Improvement Plan is developed by the school principal and the ALA Instructional Leadership Team. The plan was then discussed with the School Accountability Committee (SAC) which is made up of ALA parents, school staff members, and school administration. We use a variety of information to assess how we are doing as a school. The data used includes parent surveys, teacher surveys, DIBEL?s, NWEA, and CMAS. In its second year of existence, American Legacy Academy (ALA) has quickly estab… lished itself as a cornerstone of education in Windsor, Colorado. ALA?s mission, "We will provide a back-to-basics education with an emphasis in math, economics, science, and language skills with a firm grounding in civic responsibility and character development," the school aims to nurture not only academic excellence but also the development of a virtuous character. American Legacy Academy has 442 students 375 in (K-5) and (67) students? in grades (6-8). Our demographics are 2% free and reduced lunch, <1% English Language Learners, 1.6% African American, 77.6% Caucasian, 6% Hispanic, 3% Asian, .33% Native American, and .33% other. Our curriculum is based on the Hilldale K-12 model with the use of Core Knowledge Curriculum, Access Literacy (K-5), Singapore Math (K-8), Excellence in Writing, Well Ordered Laguage1776 History Curriculum,. We value and demand that students learn and use high quality handwriting throughout their time here at ALA. Students use the computer very little but are exposed to the computer for benchmark assessments, progress monitoring, some intervention work, and research in the older grades. Classroom instruction is Classically focused as the teacher is the foundation of the learning process. learning grounded in Professional Learning Communities. Students demonstrate their learning through interactive didactic instruction partnering with the faculty to provide voice and choice when appropriate. Recoverability in learning is an expectation among the faculty and promotes student advocacy as they develop mastery of content standards. Additionally, enrichment opportunities within the schedule occur twice a week for students to gain access to pre-teaching, re-teaching, and extension of learning with teachers. Faculty provide our students with a tremendous amount of support and encouragement. Tutoring opportunities are available every week for students who need additional support or extensions to their learning.
