A MESSAGE FROM:

Columbine Elementary School

2025-2026

Columbine Elementary School is located in the rural mountain community of Woodland Park, approximately 20 miles west of Colorado Springs via Highway 24. Our school is comprised of approximately 315 students for the 2025-2026 school year, which is an increase from the previous year's enrollment. Enrollment here is inclusive of Prek students, but PreK student enrollment is not reflected in the CDE school dashboard. Columbine serves students from Pre-K - 6th grade in general education and special e… ducation. Columbine is also home to two of the district's center-based special education programs that serve students with emotional disabilities and learning disabilities. Our staff consists of 26 licensed teachers, 6 PreK Paraprofessionals, and 8 building/special education paraprofessionals. We have 14 grade level classroom teachers, 2 interventionists, and 3 special education teachers. Our 5 specialist teachers include art, technology/media, physical education, library/STEM, and music. We also have a school counselor, social worker, PreK Director, academic coach and principal on staff. Columbine Elementary is nestled in a forested area surrounded by residential homes in the heart of Woodland Park. The campus is within one mile of WPSD's Jr./Sr. High School and serves families within the city of Woodland Park as well as those in the greater Teller County area through both zone and choice enrollments. In May 2024, WPSD consolidated Pk-6 elementary school students to Columbine Elementary making it the only non-charter public school within the city limits of the city. During the 24-25 school year, 43.3% of Columbine students were FRL eligible, a percentage that has increased steadily each year from 24% FRL eligible in 20-21. Attendance rates trend steady from year to year near 93%, and the mobility rate is down to 12% from a recent high of 16% in 21-22. Columbine's student population was 22.1% minority students and 5.9% multilingual learners in 24-25, the highest rates in these collective data groupings to date. Additionally, 16.3% of Columbine's students have IEP's which is the highest rate in the last five years. Students at Columbine have a robust and enriching schedule of core academic instruction partnered with specials and differentiated small group instruction every day. Additional programs include gifted and talented, Elevated Environmental Education through the Catamount Institute, K-kids, student council, STEM, leadership, and community master classes.
