Kemper Elementary School is located in Cortez, Colorado. Kemper serves students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. Kemper uses Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) as a base model for student expectations and procedures, trauma informed practices, and Responsibility Centered Discipline as a core program to address student behaviors. two or more races, and seventy percent are white. Forty percent of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. We also have fourteen percent of our students on an IEP. Kemper Elementary goals and priorities for the 2024 - 2025 school year include; increased achievement and growth in ELA and math with an emphasis on growth in 5th grade math, targeted interventions, increased focused on academic ownership on students and create more opportunities for students to demonstrate learning.
