fco to offer an Academy Program, which enables students to engage and study with peers who share similar interests. The core curriculum offered through each Academy provides differentiation for students of all abilities. Students examine, discover, and pursue their passions through electives, while meeting district and state graduation requirements. Learning within Academy Pathways allows students to connect their current interests and curriculum with future plans. Green Mountain High School offers four academies and fourteen pathways. Each of the 13 pathways has 3.5 ? 4.5 specific credit course requirements. Career Shadowing and Internships All students are offered the opportunity to participate in career shadowing, internship experiences, and/or apprenticeship. GMHS is proud to be working with Career Wise, an apprenticeship program that was started in 2017. GMHS sophomores experience multiple Workshop sessions in partnership with Junior Achievement on career exploration and attend the district-wide Career Fair each fall. The Individual and Career Academic Plan (ICAP) is integrated into the Academy Program as a resource and tool for students to explore career interests, college planning, and reflecting on the process. Community Collaborations and Business Partnerships Our Academy Program, work-based learning opportunities, and CTE programs are continually vetted by the GMHS Advisory Board, which includes more than 150 business partners including St. Anthony's Hospital, Martin & Martin Engineering, Red Rocks Community College, University of Colorado Denver, the Monfort School of Business ? University of Northern Colorado, the West Chamber of Commerce ? Union Corridor businesses. Advisors serve as partners, collaborators, career shadow and internship hosts, and mentors within our Academy Program. GMHS Community Connections hosts parent representatives from all seven GM Area schools. Community Connections members serve as a conduit among the area schools to support each school community and our vision for a K-12 area academy program. Co-Curriculars and Special Programs GMHS hosts more than 30 co-curricular clubs and activities including DECA, HOSA, Civil Air Patrol, ACE Mentorship, Mock Trial, TSA, Cheerleading, IDEA Club, D&D Club, Chess Club, National Art Honor Society, National Honor Society, Yearbook, Newspaper, Thespian Troupe, Eco Club, Book Club, GSA, Sources of Strength, Leadership. We offer all seniors the opportunity to complete a Capstone Project, a multi-faceted task that acts as a culmination of students? learning at GMHS. Students gain experience in real-world tasks by selecting an area of study, combining different disciplines, exploring new avenues in a productive manner, helping others and contributing to the community, and demonstrating college and career readiness. Each student needs to address a challenging issue or career field that will stretch his/her intellectual and personal growth. It should benefit the community at large and/or give insight to a field that the student may want to pursue as a career. The Capstone includes a portfolio, a reflection paper, a final product or service, and a public presentation. Students work on their Capstone throughout their senior year, with the culmination of Senior Boards in March. While highly recommended, the Capstone is not a requirement and students can earn elective credit. GMHS also offers the STEM Endorsed Diploma per the State of Colorado and the Seal of Biliteracy.
