About Deer Creek Middle School (2130)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Deer Creek Middle School

2025-2026

Deer Creek Middle School is situated in the southern end of unincorporated Jefferson County, with a student population of 567 students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Our two feeder schools are Stony Creek Elementary and Ute Meadows Elementary, whose students comprise 47% of the Deer Creek student population. The remainder of the student body comes from choice-enrollment from over 22 other schools ? neighborhood, charter and private ? with half of those choice enrollments coming from other Chatfiel… d area elementary schools. Along with Falcon Bluffs Middle School and Bradford K-8, Deer Creek feeds to Chatfield Senior High School. The demographics of the school include 23% minorities, 4% multilingual learners, and 25% free/reduced lunch rate, with a low mobility rate. Deer Creek is a comprehensive neighborhood middle school with a large variety of elective Jefferson County R-1 opportunities in the fine/applied arts, a Significant Support Needs center program, and two pathways for general education: Humanities and STEM. As part of an continual data analysis, assessment results are reviewed by the school leadership team and departments, including MAP, CMAS, and classroom-based assessment data. The data analysis involves target staff to undertake a more detailed analysis, which is then confirmed by the departments involved. General trends are also shared with the school accountability committee, as well as the details of the UIP and quarterly updates on progress toward targets. Over the summer, Deer Creek administration took part in a transformational professional development that pushed our traditional thinking around the foundations and outcomes for middle schools. What emerged was a new and profound idea of what a middle school can and should be. By exemplifying courage and confidence, the Deer Creek Middle School community is interpreting data in such a way to ensure a culture of high academic expectations centering on grade levels tasks and equitable engagement strategies. For the 2025-2026 school year, Deer Creek Middle School will leverage what we do well and deepen our commitment to get better at getting better. This idea is intertwined throughout our Unified Improvement Plan for 2025-2026.
