About Bear Creek High School (0664)

A MESSAGE FROM:

Bear Creek High School

2025-2026

Bear Creek High School serves about 1300 students of which 60% are students of color and 49% are free and reduced students. Additionally, 21% of students are served by learning specialists and/or culturally and linguistically diverse educators. Plus, over 36% of BCHS students choice-in to Bear Creek High School.   Bear Creek High School has enjoyed the benefits of a veteran teaching staff with only a small amount of annual turnover. The school values collaborative decision making models to addre… ss school improvement efforts. Bear Creek utilizes an operation leadership team (OLT), an academic leadership team (ALT), and a proactive behavior support team (PBST). All teachers are part of professional learning communities (PLCs) that meet weekly to analyze school data, develop school goals (including the UIP), and drive student achievement. Following the recent pandemic, the school saw a significant decline in parental involvement, but the school leadership of the last few years has worked diligently to re-establish a school accountability committee (SAC) and principal?s advisory group to increase family and community engagement. Each fall, the academic leadership and other advisory groups review the draft of the UIP and contribute feedback. Our Bear Creek groups have decided to focus on two goals for the 25-26 school year: 1. The school wants to maintain 9th grade pass rates and credit attainment rates (a minimum of 6 credits attained by the end of freshman year), while also increasing the 10th grade pass rates and credit attainment rates (also a minimum of 6 credits, but by the end of the sophomore year). 2. We aim to increase the percentage of students reporting a positive sense of belonging in school, as measured in the district Panorama survey.   Our groups feel that if the school can maintain 9th grade pass rates, increase 10th grade pass rates, and increase the number of students that feel like they belong, this should correlate with increases in student achievement.
