Granby Elementary School is a Title I school serving a student population of approximately 350 student in preschool through fifth grade from the communities of Granby, Grand Lake, Hot Sulphur Springs, and the surrounding areas. The percentage of families who qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch is approximately 50% and 20% of students are English Language Learners. Granby Elementary staff have spent a considerable amount of time focusing on academic achievement and growth. This has included assign…
ing a grade level interventionist (1 FTE per grade level) for all special education, 504, MTSS, READ plan, and EL students. All staff work tirelessly to align curriculum, understand standards, and ensure that students are challenged on a daily basis. Our students are showing growth consistently on local assessments. Over the last few years we have heightened our focus on the whole child through the use of ASCD's Whole Child Framework. Specifically we are working to incorporate and implement project-based learning and blended learning to increase student engagement. We have also increased social emotional programming. Students at GES receive weekly instruction in social emotional learning, we have a school wide PBIS system, we use Capturing Kids' Hearts, Restorative Practices, and Conscious Discipline to support our trauma informed practice, and we have a SEL team that works to provide counseling service, small group support, behavior planning, and family support.
