Harrison School District 2 (D2) is proud to be the second oldest district in El Paso County. We have a long history of supporting students and families by going the extra mile. The mission of D2 is to graduate college- and career-ready students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors to personally succeed and contribute to the common good. iefs include: All students are capable of excellence. Our purpose is to maximize student success. The well-being of our students, staff, families, and community is worthy of our investment. We honor an open enrollment policy where students can enroll in one of our nine elementary schools, four K-8 schools, one 6-12 online school, two middle schools, two high schools, one career readiness academy, a home school program, or three charter school K-12 systems. We also offer free full-day kindergarten, free preschool education to those who qualify, and free transportation and extracurricular activities. Each student is provided with a laptop and internet assistance when needed. Our students thrive with gifted education programs at each campus, special education programs at each campus, and award-winning culturally- and linguistically diverse education. Advanced Placement (AP) and Concurrent Enrollment programs are offered to our high school students at no cost, while our Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program is available from elementary to high school graduation. We offer a complete IB program from the early years through the Diploma program. Another reason for choosing us is this unprecedented opportunity for students attending one of our District 2 high schools. In partnership with Pikes Peak State College, the Dakota Foundation, and the Legacy Institute, the D2 Promise Program, which began in the fall of 2020 as the Dakota Promise - provides free college tuition and academic support coaches to every qualifying high school graduate in our school district. New with our class of 2025 graduates, we are now owning the program as the D2 Promise and making the scholarship a "first-dollar" scholarship where the benefits begin immediately and can stack in the right situations to actually pay our students to go to college! To be eligible for the program, students must attend D2 for a minimum of one year and graduate from a D2 high school, enroll at PPSC within 16 months of graduation, apply for financial aid, complete 24 credit hours per academic year, and maintain a 2.0 GPA at PPSC. We believe in providing our students with access to opportunities beyond the classroom, and we strive to establish and nurture relationships with community partners who can help us do just that. In short, we do things differently. It?s just who we are!
