Rocky Heights Middle School is a comprehensive neighborhood middle school located in Highlands Ranch Colorado. learners, and supports the ongoing development of sturdy human beings through a delicate balance of rigorous content and a purposeful focus on habits of scholarship and mind. Our students are critical thinkers. They tackle modern, real-world problems, through core academics and diverse elective course offerings during the day, and they engage in extracurricular opportunities in the afternoons. Approximately 80% of our students immerse themselves in a culture of involvement at Rocky Heights and take part in one of our many student-initiated clubs, activities, or athletic opportunities. Our one-to-one technology program provides ongoing access for students to personalize their classrooms and empowers them to connect with complex learning opportunities. We firmly believe in a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) that helps us identify and assist students on an individual basis related to academic, social, and emotional needs. Our faculty works collaboratively to support all learners across a vast spectrum of academic needs, including but not limited to: Gifted and Talented, Special Education, and English Language Development. Rocky Heights is proud of its strong parent support, dedicated staff, active student body, and the roles we collectively hold in developing students into successful global citizens in an ever-changing world. Leadership and Staff RHMS has a leadership team that consists of the Principal, three Assistant Principals, and one Dean of Professional Learning focused on ongoing staff development, induction, teacher mentorship, and instructional support. This team is beginning its fourth year together and remains focused on adding stability and longevity to Rocky Heights leadership. Middle School Model Rocky Heights follows the middle school model and schedules students into teams at each grade level. Students on teams share a common group of core teachers who are able to foster relationships, support, and extend student learning with an awareness of their unique and individualized needs. Assessments CMAS (ELA, Mathematics, Social Studies [7th Grade], Science [8th Grade]) I-Ready (Reading Comprehension and Mathematics) WIDA/ACCESS Parent/Community Involvement RHMS has two actively and highly involved parent partnership groups: PCA - The Parent Community Alliance (PCA) is your parent-teacher association here ar RHMS and focuses on promoting the educational environment for our kids, supporting communication throughout the school community, and learning fundraising efforts that directly impact RHMS students. SAC - The School Accountability Committee (SAC) is to inform, encourage, and provide opportunities for parent and community members to be involved in the planning and evaluation of the school?s instructional program and quality improvement processes. The SAC makes recommendations concerning the school?s Performance Improvement, Priority Improvement, or Turnaround Plan. Additionally, the SAC makes recommendations toward the adoption of the Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) and priorities for the spending of school moneys. The SAC at RHMS is an outstanding group of parents, business leaders, community members, and building staff charged with advising the Principal and administrative team on decisions that impact the students, staff, and learning culture of Rocky Heights. This committee is dedicated to ensuring that we are providing the highest quality of education for the students we serve.
