Summit was founded in 1996 as Boulder Valley School District's first public charter school. The school was founded by a group of parents in the district who established a mission based upon academic rigor, meaningful academic accomplishment, love of learning, scholarship, community care, and preparation for high school. These are the core values of the school which continue to guide Summit to this day.  Summit has its own nine member school board which runs a number of committees including a S…
chool Accountability Committee (SAC). The SAC is composed of members representing various stakeholder groups. The SAC is a standing representative advisory committee of the Summit Board of Directors which meets on matters of school goals, improvement, and accountability. Tasks include reviewing the annual unified improvement plan, steering strategic goals, and increasing parent input. The committee can make recommendations about school spending priorities and/or advise the principal about shaping and implementing the school improvement plan.
