Lyons Elementary School is a small, community based school in St. Vrain Valley School District. The school was founded in 1881, and has a long legacy of community engagement and academic excellence. In the 2024-2025 school year we have 260 student, PK-5. We are also closely connected to Lyons Middle Senior High School, and have established programming initiatives that build mentorships between the high school and elementary school students. ship. Through this focus programming, we have established projects with vertical alignment (PK-5) in the areas of computer science and data literacy. Using the Design Thinking methodology, we have established grade level projects that leverage place-based, community engagement in social studies and environmental sciences. Our academic excellence includes a long legacy as a John Irwin School of Excellence. In SY 23-24, we earned both John Irwin as well as the Governor's Growth Award of Distinction. We are also proud of our growth and achievement, as measured through the the localized and nationally normed iReady assessment in math and reading. The school has earned the iReady Superstretch Award in reading in the years 22-23, 23-24, and 24-25. Additionally, in SY 24-25, the school earned the Superstretch Award in Math as well. Our participation rates have declined over the past 3 years, from 88%-85%, with lowest participation in 5th grade SY 25, where only 80% of our students participated in CMAS. In part, low rates of participation, combined with a small population, create inconsistencies between our local iReady Data (100% participation) and CMAS (85% participation).
