Global Village Academy - Aurora (GVA-A) is a K-8 international language immersion charter school. Every student learns in English plus Spanish, Mandarin, or French, creating a multilingual advantage that opens doors to a global community. The mission of the organization is for Global Village Academy Students to become fluent and literate in English and the second Language, excel academically in core content subjects and develop twenty-first-century skills, including cross-cultural understanding.…
Our students develop a global perspective by learning a second language, exploring diverse cultures to cultivate understanding and respect, and developing the skills to live and work with others internationally. In our immersion program, Kindergarten and 1st grade students receive 70% of their instruction in the immersion language. In grades 2nd - 5th, students receive 50% of their instruction in the immersion language. We currently have 861 students enrolled in K-8th Grade. 82.7% of GVA students are minority students, with 58.3% of students being multilingual learners. Many stakeholders are involved in the process of analyzing and creating the Unified Improvement Plan (UIP). Some of the stakeholders include staff members, parents, and board members. Staff members are also involved in the process through the creation of grade and classroom level goals.
