A MESSAGE FROM:

Kearney Middle School

2025-2026

Kearney Middle School (KMS), located in Commerce City and part of Adams County School District 14, serves approximately 400 students in grades 7?8. The school?s diverse student body includes a majority of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch and over half identified as English Language Learners. As a Title I school, KMS is committed to providing equitable learning opportunities through inclusive instruction, strong relationships, and responsive supports that address both academic … and social-emotional needs. Kearney Middle School is currently identified for Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CS ? Lowest 5% On Watch) under ESSA. In response, the school conducted a comprehensive needs assessment and root cause analysis, identifying key areas for improvement in literacy and mathematics achievement, consistent instructional practices, and student engagement. These findings guide the school?s evidence-based improvement strategies, which emphasize implementation of district-adopted, standards-aligned curricula?Into Math, StudySync for ELA, HMH Science Dimensions, and TCI Social Studies?coupled with an instructional focus on academic rigor, structured student dialogue, and targeted feedback. Teachers collaborate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to analyze student data, monitor progress, and plan targeted interventions aligned to grade-level expectations. Ongoing progress monitoring occurs through interim assessments, data cycles, and instructional walkthroughs to evaluate the impact of strategies and ensure continuous improvement. Additional supports, including GT, ELD, and Reading and Math Intervention classes, provide tiered academic assistance and enrichment opportunities. KMS maintains a 1:1 technology ratio during school hours to enhance access to digital learning tools and personalized instruction. Families and community partners play a vital role in the improvement process through active participation in the School Accountability Committee (SAC) and engagement events that strengthen communication and shared ownership of student success. Together, these efforts reflect Kearney Middle School?s commitment to equity, excellence, and continuous improvement for all learners.
