PDIS Fact Sheet

The Professional Development Information System (PDIS)

Strengthening Colorado's Early Childhood Workforce

WHAT

The Professional Development Information System (PDIS) is a web-based system supporting career development for Colorado’s early childhood workforce. It tracks training and education, provides professional development (both online self-paced and face to face), and helps individuals choose professional development according to their competency level, their professional development goals, their job role and their geographic location. One of the highlights of the PDIS is that it calculates Credential levels and passes this, along with other relevant information, to the system that supports the Colorado Shines Quality Rating and Improvement System.

WHY

Strengthening and supporting early childhood professionals is critical to young children’s success! Children who are nurtured and taught by sensitive and well-trained teachers and caregivers are more likely to progress toward both developmental and academic goals and are more ready to enter kindergarten. The PDIS supports early childhood professionals in multiple ways throughout their career.

WHO

The PDIS is designed to support a variety of early childhood professionals at all levels of experience and education. Whether you are a center-based professional, a family child care professional, a public school teacher, or a FFN (family, friend, or neighbor) care provider, the PDIS has something for you! Professionals working in programs that decide to progress in the QRIS are required to register in the PDIS. Professionals whose programs do not decide to progress in the QRIS can still use the PDIS.
