Celebrate Colorado Teacher Appreciation Week

Share the love with teachers virtually, May 4-8

DENVER - Colorado teachers have gone to extraordinary lengths to swiftly transition to supporting their students’ learning at home. Colorado Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4-8, a perfect time to show them how much we appreciate their tremendous dedication, creativity and problem solving during the pandemic. Colorado loves teachers, and during this week the Colorado Department of Education invites everyone to share the love for their teachers virtually.

“During COVID-19, it has become even more apparent how teachers provide students with so much more than academic instruction,” said Colorado Education Commissioner Katy Anthes. “Through their connection and support for students and their families, teachers are helping entire communities make it through this difficult time.”

“Take a moment during Teacher Appreciation Week to thank a teacher who is going above and beyond to support students and families while we are learning from home," Anthes said. "Or, reach out to a teacher who made a difference in your life and express gratitude for all they did to help you love learning!”

During this week, which coincides with National Teacher Appreciation Week, the public can express gratitude on social media by sharing a post, image or video with signs thanking a teacher and using the hashtag, #ThankATeacherCO. This year’s theme is "Colorado loves teachers!" Have your child send a virtual message to their teacher or give a shout out to a teacher who has made a difference in your life. Tag a friend and invite them to also give thanks.
